These instructions only apply to email mailboxes (not email forwarders).
The steps below apply to Microsoft Outlook 2016, however earlier versions of Outlook are fairly similar.
How to setup Outlook 2016:
- Open Outlook 2016
- Go to “File” at the top left of the screen, and click “Add New Account“
- Enter your email address into the box and click “Connect“
- Outlook will take a few moments:
- Outlook will normally auto-detect the technical settings, so it will just ask for your email account’s password:
- After a few seconds, you should see a success message:
- Click “OK” and you can start using your new mailbox.
Manual setup steps for Outlook 2016:
If the above steps didn’t work, try this manual method instead.
- Open Outlook 2016
- Go to “File” at the top left of the screen, and click “Add New Account“
- Enter your email address into the box and click “Advanced options“, then check the box “Let me set up my account manually“:
- Wait a few moments, then when Outlook asks “Choose account type“, click on “IMAP“:
- You will be prompted with the “IMAP Account Settings” screen:
- Here, enter the following details:
- Incoming mail server: mail.primary-image.com
- Incoming mail port: 993
- Incoming encryption method: SSL/TLS
- Outgoing mail server: mail.primary-image.com
- Outgoing mail port: 465
- Outgoing encryption method: SSL/TLS
- Do not check the “Secure Password Authentication (SPA)” boxes (leave them empty)
- On the next screen, enter your email account’s password:
- After a few seconds, you should see a success message:
- Click “OK” and you can start using your new mailbox.
Help, it’s not working!
If the steps above were not successful, then double check your email address and password carefully, ensuring there’s no spaces or gaps.
Or if you’re using a work computer, your IT department may have put restrictions on what email accounts can be accessed, so you may need to contact them.
